Product Description The Butterfly Naifu Table Tennis Racket is well rounded enough to be perfect for the beginning player. The 1.5 mm sponge provides a high level of control so developing players can concentrate on technique.
Product Description Designed for intermediate players learning to develop their game, the Butterfly Naifu Table Tennis Racket combines Addoy rubber with a special 1.5-millimeter sponge to give you superior spin, speed, and control during your game. Lightweight and well-balanced, the Naifu is constructed of five-ply Basswood and features a comfort-flared handle. This racket is approved by the USATT and ITTF. About Butterfly Hikosuke Tamasu founded Tamasu Co., Ltd. in the small town of Yanai City, Japan in 1950. This was the beginning of a company career which is almost unique in table tennis. A renowned international for Japan, Tamasu fulfilled his dream of a lifetime when he made his hobby his profession. At that time, he could hardly imagine that he would make Butterfly the leading brand worldwide. Creativity, durability, and a profound technical knowledge meant success. 0ver and over again he looked for new possibilities in order to optimize techniques by innovative playing material. Tamasu realized that each player is different and has strengths and weaknesses. By offering individual playing material Tamasu wanted to help players right from the beginning to emphasize their individuality. Since 1983 Butterfly has its own training and research center in Tokyo. Highly qualified scientists co-operate with world class players and coaches for the development of rubber and blade technology. Butterfly's rubbers and blades are used by more than half of the participants at World and European Championships.

Good for beginners October 3, 2008 Louis B. (australia!!!) For the price, these are great quality, very lightweight, Okay spin, and pretty good control. Weather doesn't affect them too bad but to they get dinged up pretty easy when dropped. Overall pretty good :)
Solid paddle August 4, 2008 Jimi Oke (Williamstown, MA) I bought two of these a while ago and they've held up pretty well. Yes, they're 1.5 mm sponges, but it's amazing what you can do with these well crafted paddles. Solid feel and hasn't come apart with more than 5 months of use. I had some very expensive 2.0mm sponge paddles that fell to pieces within a few months. Butterfly paddles are quality and this comes at an excellent price.
Better than a standard cheapo paddle July 17, 2008 Benjamin Fuller (Philadelphia, PA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Nothing to write home about, but fun for household and non-competitive use. I wouldn't enter a tournament with it though. If you go into the purchase with that expectation, you'll be happy. The handle is quite comfortable and worth the 10 or so dollars over the bargain basement models.
Good Starter Bat June 24, 2008 B. Antani (NJ) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a great starter bat for recreational TT/ Ping Pong. Good design of the handle allows proper grip and improve your play. Definitely recommended for the serious amateurs over the flat no-padding paddles that sell cheaply. Butterfly is the best there is!
Need to improve? Naifu is for you! April 9, 2008 E. Cortez (Austin, TX) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I started playing a year ago and I've been playing with a Stiga Ultimate which has a 2.2 mm sponge. I wanted to work more on technique because I had been relying on spin too much. With the 2.2 mm sponge I was sending the ball long when I started to try looping so I figured I'd try the Naifu with the 1.5 mm sponge. It is MUCH easier to control the ball. I can give nice forehand or backhand looping stroke and keep the ball on the table. It's also easier to return a smash with the Naifu because of the thin sponge and lack of strong spin. The downside is that the spin and speed I was relying on in my offensive game to force my opponent to make a mistake is almost non-existent with the Naifu. I played with it for about 50 games and when I switched back to the 2.2 mm sponge, my game was A LOT better. Bottom line - use the Naifu to work on technique but keep your ego in check - you won't win too many matches against an experienced opponent but it definitely will help you to improve your game.
